Since moving from Toronto to the coast of Nova Scotia, Jaye has used materials at hand to fashion her most recent series of sculptures. Her life-sized shore birds are distinctly organic, with worn smooth textures and shapes that have been created by forces of nature as much as by the artist herself. These delicate forms breathe with a life of their own, holding a powerful tension between beauty and decay.
